Two Marquette, Mich., stations — Morgan Murphy Media’s ABC affiliate WBUP and Sullivan’s Landing’s WJMN (MNT) — will soon combine resources, rebrand under a unified local news brand and expand local news coverage.
Starting Sept. 9, the new brand of My UP News will offer 20 hours of live, local news per week across the stations including:
6-7 a.m. M-F on WBUP 6-6:30 p.m. M-F on WBUP 6-7 p.m. M-F on WJMN 10-10:30 p.m. on WJMN 11-11:30 p.m. on WBUP
WBUP was previously branded as ABC10 and WJMN was known as Local 3. The two will combine newsrooms under an agreement between the companies.
“We are thrilled to expand our local news offerings and share something uniquely designed for people in the Upper Peninsula,” said Mark Overstreet, general manager of WBUP and WJMN. “We know people who live here care deeply about the U.P. and we wanted to build a local news product just for them.”
“Expect more local stories from all over the U.P. and more live, local newscasts,” said Ben Raymond, news director for My UP News. “We’re looking to showcase the inspirational people, find solutions to local issues and be the best source of information about what’s happening in this amazing part of Michigan.”
In addition to the newscast changes, both stations are undergoing improvements to their over-the-air signals to better serve viewers across the Upper Peninsula.
My UP News will be updating news 24/7 on its website myUPnow.com. Also, weekend newscasts will relaunch at
