Fox O&O WAGA Atlanta (Fox 5) has partnered with WHAT-FM (Radio One Atlanta) to launch a 24/7 audio simulcast channel of the television station’s streaming content, said Bill Schneider, WAGA vice president and general manager. Effective immediately, WHAT HD2 will be the home of unique content provided by WAGA’s digital properties.
In making the announcement, Schneider said: “Our team at Fox 5 is constantly seeking out new ways to deliver our news, weather, sports and lifestyle programming to north Georgia consumers in whatever way is most convenient for them. Making our streaming audio available to radio listeners is an important part of that effort and we’re grateful to the professionals at Radio One Atlanta for helping to make that happen.”
Derek Harper, Radio One Atlanta operations manager, added: “We have had an excellent partnership with Fox 5. Streaming their local news content on our Hot 107.9 HD2 channel will bring even more original content to our listeners.”
With this partnership, WHAT HD2 will simulcast over 100 hours of locally produced content, including over 75 hours of live local news, 6.5 hours of original sports programming and 10 hours of lifestyle content, including an hour each weekday of Portia.
This HD radio channel will deliver the audio from Fox 5’s livestream that is currently available on Fox5Atlanta.com, the Fox 5 Atlanta mobile app, the Fox Local Connected TV app and a number of FAST channels.
