Only fresh thinking can help pave a future path for linear TV with younger audiences, and four programming leaders at some of its most prominent station groups will share what that looks like in the opening panel at TVNewsCheck’s Programming Everywhere conference at the NAB Show on April 14 in Las Vegas.
Frank Cicha, EVP programming, Fox Television Stations; Therese Gamba, CMO and EVP of acquired programming, NBCU Local; Shannon Coggins, VP, programming, Hearst Television; and Scott Ehrlich, chief innovation officer, Sinclair, will join moderator Michael Depp, NewsCheckMedia chief content officer and editor of TVNewsCheck, for Programming Leaders on Ideas Beyond Boundaries, a 9 a.m. PT discussion.
“There is now no doubt this is a crucible year for broadcasters, and their survival rests on how valuable audiences perceive their programming to be,” Depp said. “This panel is going to get right to the nut of how programmers are acting with new urgency to shake off TV’s cobwebs, looking inwardly and outwardly for more genuinely original content, including drawing on their strengths in localism.
“This discussion frames up the essential questions and outline for a substantive day to follow, in which all of TV’s major genres — along with altogether new and uncharted multiplatform programming territory — will be under consideration and illustrated with plenty of video” Depp added.
Programming Everywhere convenes programming executives, leaders in news, digital and streaming, technologists, talent and content creators from across multiple media to catalyze new thinking for TV’s future. Other panels include:
