The Oregon Association of Broadcasters (OAB) has created a new partnership with the Oregon Department of Education to launch an Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) program for students studying media production across the state. This initiative will provide students with a certificate of completion that qualifies them for employment opportunities at radio and television stations throughout Oregon.
The IRC program is designed to reflect the technical knowledge and skills accumulated by students over the course of their media production studies. The credential serves as a recognized standard of excellence within the broadcasting industry, equipping students with the necessary skills and experience to excel in their chosen career paths.
“Oregon’s broadcast industry is growing and evolving, and it is vital that we provide young people with the training and credentials they need to be successful,” said Bob Singer, OAB president. “Through this partnership with the Oregon Department of Education, we are helping to bridge the gap between education and employment, while preparing a new generation of media professionals for rewarding careers in radio and television.”
The OAB’s new credential program will be available to high school who are pursuing media production studies. It will cover essential skills and competencies in areas such as audio and video production, editing, broadcasting technology, and media ethics. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate that demonstrates their readiness for employment in the dynamic and competitive field of broadcasting.
OAB said this partnership “underscores a commitment to fostering the next generation of talent in the broadcasting industry, ensuring a robust workforce
