How AI Can Help Newsrooms Find Important Stories
One key challenge addressed by the panel was how AI can help newsrooms identify stories that truly resonate with their communities.
O’Connor discussed Futuri’s TopicPulse, which analyzes data to help newsrooms move beyond gut feelings when selecting stories. During the recent immigration protests in Los Angeles, O’Connor revealed how TopicPulse helped identify the story within the story: “While lots of people needed to and should have been reporting on the basic protest, the one story that was constantly on top was, who are these people that are actually doing the protesting? And that was the top story for about a day and a half in terms of engagement.”
